I'm going to steal one of the reviews I read, it basically says that if you like the performance of your kit lens (18-55), you'll defintely like this as well. I totally agree, fast AF, sharp pictures, longer range version of 18-55.
Note that this is NOT a comparison between L lens and 55-250, or even 70-300. Just a decision experience that I wanted to share with a number of beginners out there.
The lens has performed as I had hoped, providing good clear pictures at maximum zoom. The magnification at 250mm is impressive giving detail that can't be seen with the naked eye. It goes without saying that it works perfectly with my Canon Rebel T3i/600D. very satisfied with my purchase. I didn't want to spend a silly amount of money on a lens that I wouldn't use that often and think its a good match for the Canon Rebel T3i/600D.
I have just started to take photographing little seriously. And got my self a t3i with 18-55 IS II lens. However, taking pictures of animals and birds are not that easy with 18-55 for it's limited range, so I bought this one after a little research on other cheaper alternative, and I am glad that I went with this one. I am still experimenting with it as it's been only two weeks so far. Without tripod I was able to frame a few good frame as the built in stabilizer did a very good job. I will keep you updated as I get more time with it. Please buy this item from a reputed seller, I will recommend to get it from amazon.com instead of market place seller, even though you will be paying a little extra but, I can guarantee that worth it as I heard many measurable stories of getting counterfeit lens and used one from the marketplace sellers.
this was a big step buying something like this from amazon ive never spent this much money from a website but i was curious and it has paid off so far i bought a canon eos rebel t4i recently and i wanted this lens but didnt want to pay 299 i thank this seller and would purchase from him again..
Having bought the Canon T4i with an 18mm-55mm lens, I was looking for a inexpensive but at the same time a good telephoto zoom lens. For less than 200 bucks and with free prime shipping, Canon EF-S 55-250mm is one of the best lens in its price range. The lens along with the software of T4i captures great pictures. The packaging was good and I received the product within 24 hrs of the shipment. I recommend!
