Richard Scarry Busy Town (Toy)

My son got this as a gift last year when he was 6 and it's still his favorite game. Honestly, it's our favorite too! My husband, my son and I play it quite often. It's really fun.Whenever someone lands on a gold bug we make it a big deal by shouting Gold Bug! It's just really a lot of fun and a game we all look forward to playing. I wish they would come out with another version of it.

My 2.5 year old is a game addict like her Mama. I bought this because of all the good reviews and I definitely wasn't disappointed. Although she's younger than the 3 year old minimum on the game, she was able to grasp the concept pretty easily. The look on her face when she found one of the objects was priceless and I love how you get to work together as a team. :)

We hurried towards the end to finish but all in all this game is a keeper. Give it a chance, even if you have a little one in your family under 3. This is a great family game.

We got this game last Christmas. We're still enjoying it and it's held up great - very sturdy. Just be careful not to loose the parts. As a parent, I don't groan inwardly when my 4 year old brings it out to play - I actually look forward to playing it! Friends suggested we also try the Richard Scarry Airport Game. So, we just got that and love it too - but I think this one is still my favorite because it's cooperative.

As far as math skills are concerned, Busy Town is simpler - you just count by ones to add up how many hidden items you've found - and then you move your players along the board by that many steps. In the Airport Game the math is more advanced - you add up souvenirs and end up with a math problem like this: 4 + 1 + 3 = 8. (I got out our abacus to show my 4 year old how to add up the numbers.) The person with the most souvenirs wins.

So, to sum up... Busy Town: Cooperative and adding by ones, Airport Game: more advanced adding and there is a single winner. They're BOTH excellent, well made, board games, but they are different.

I love this game. I've played it with my nephew ranging from 3-10 and also my son who is 2 (we alter the rules for him.) Great game, I enjoy playing along. Only issue is the game board is large, so my son will step on it. It has ripped across the seam in several places.
