We've had this frame and our new memory foam mattress about 2 weeks now and we just love it. It really does take longer to get it out of the box than it does to set up! It is very well made and sturdy. Feels almost like iron. We have been getting the best sleep we've had in years. I love the way it looks with no headboard or footboard and it takes up a lot less room than our old king size bed did. The room looks bigger. I would buy another one in a second!
I like a hard bed and I sleep on a full futon so I wanted a platform to raise it off the floor. My criteria were: sturdy, stable, easy to assemble and disassemble, pieces light enough for me to carry alone if I have to, not bulky so easy to get up and down stairs and through doorways. So I ruled out a box spring and a wood platform bed. I considered a futon couch-bed but they are all too flimsy and unstable by my reckoning. This metal bed-frame has virtually no assembly: the two pieces fold out like a card table and are held together by snug locking "collars" of plastic which grip surprisingly firmly. It is as firm under my futon as the floor, but if you prefer a softer bed the frame could carry a box spring and mattress as well. The storage space under the bed is an unexpected bonus. I highly recommend this bed frame to anyone, but especially anyone who moves house often.
Do you like to gamble? If so then this product is for you. I hate to give bad reviews.
Received the item in a resonable time. But it was missing one of the folding lock arms. Spend a lot of time talking to the only representative of Malouf Fine Linens. Sent her some pictures. At the end she told me that they can do nothing for me because their products are made in China, and they have no parts for them at all. So much for the 5 year warranty. She said that I have to call amazon and return the item.
I called Amazon and first was offered to return the item and to place another order. But since that sounded very lame to me they offered me $50 refund.
Well, I spent $230 on it, and the price went down the next week to $195. So I got the refund and kept the bed frame that by now it started to squeak.
So if nothing was missing and there were no squeaking or refusing to honor the warranty, I would have rated it 4 or even 5 starts.
But now the product itselft - 3 starts, customer service and warranty - 0 starts, Amazon - 5 stars.
But most likely you will have better experience with it. As I said it is a gamble - made in China with very low quality control, only one customer service rep, no parts, virtually no warranty, and squeaking... live and learn I guess...
I ordered this frame in an XL Twin for my 14 year old 6'2", 205 pound son. I was a little skeptical as to whether this would be strong enough to withstand the torture of a teenager. I was surprised at how sturdy the frame is. I put a 10 inch memory foam mattress on it and I have one happy boy. My only complaint is that the mattress slides on the frame. I do have a bed skirt on it and maybe removing it would help with the slipping. Regardless, the frame was exactly as described on Amazon and it arrived quickly and on the day it was promised.
